The Ambassador Mykonos
Flaunting the iconic Cycladic architecture of white walls and flurries of blue that Greece is so well loved for, though with five-star standards to back it all up, the Myconian Ambassador is easy on the eye and ideally placed too. This is every bit the chic, boutique Mykonos hotel, perfectly fusing an intimate and private atmosphere with slick service, top-end facilities and contemporary décor, no matter what part of the property you happen to be in. None of this comes with any compromises on location either, with Mykonos Town just a few minutes away, so too the sandy shores and beach clubs of Platis Gialos Beach which the hotel overlooks.
There is a long list of guestroom and suite categories here, despite its small size, though all 70 rooms at the Myconian Ambassador enjoy Aegean Sea views, and there really is no bad option to choose from. Many come with a Jacuzzi, while others open out onto either their own private pool or one shared with your next-door neighbour. Inside, you will only see bright white or deep sea blue, lots of glass and occasional quirky canvases, as well as one or two thoroughly modern touches. These can include space-age rain shower pods in the middle of the room, Nespresso Machines and iPod docks as standard. Some of the larger suites boast deep soak bathtubs, a four-poster bed and luscious marble throughout, complementing a space which is then defined by its extra large roof terrace or furnished balcony, with those coastal panoramas never far away.
Another highlight of any stay at the Myconian Ambassador is the delectable cuisine served up at the Latitudes and Efisia Restaurants, both havens of Greek specialities and Mediterranean flavours brought to life with a contemporary twist. So you can start your day with a buffet of figs and fresh coffee, smoked salmon or Greek yoghurt and island honey, before an evening menu of organic, seasonal produce prepped to perfection and delivering unforgettable meals night after night. They take fine food very seriously at the Myconian Ambassador, with award-winning olive oil proudly coming from the owner’s very own groves, and herbs, aubergines, onions and lemons all being grown exclusively for the restaurant. In fact, even the meat served onsite can be traced back to free-roaming lands belonging to the hotel’s former CEO, a lovely touch of care which translates to the plate and can truly be tasted in every dish.
Between those enviable meals, daytimes are best spent in luxuriating by the pool on a daybed or at the spa, treating yourself to a facial or anti-ageing treatment, perhaps a private yoga class or dip in the hydrotherapy pool, the choice is yours. All in all, with such style and grace, attention to detail and fine tuning from top to bottom, the Relais and Chateaux Myconian Ambassador is quite simply one of the Mykonos greats.
