The stylish Hotel Le Toiny draws well-heeled visitors to St Barth’s easterly shores, a quiet corner of the island where 42 beautiful acres of coconut palms, pineapple groves and powdery sands are occupied by the resort. This leafy backdrop instils an immediate sense of serenity, complemented by Le Toiny’s elegant white interiors, vaulted ceilings and open-air spaces that make this every bit the quintessentially luxe, Caribbean cocoon.
While Hotel Le Toiny has been welcoming discerning visitors to St Barth since the 1990s, its latest look and feel is like nothing before. The entire place is contemporary and fresh with its white-on-white aesthetic, shell-encrusted features and teak wood finishes. Flooded with light and spacious throughout, Le Toiny evokes a laidback atmosphere that allows you to really unwind, breathing in that Caribbean air with the rolling waves right in front of you. In fact, every suite here offers sea views from expansive terraces and private pools. It’s a generous touch, with even entry-level Junior Suites serving up superlative room layouts, furnishings and mod-cons, such as spacious living rooms, concealed kitchenettes, dressing rooms, Sonos speakers and more. The higher suite categories will then offer more privileged views of the sea from their elevated positions on the hillside, as well as larger floorplans and – in the Villa Suite – an additional bedroom too.
There’s nothing better than relishing a morning dip in your private pool, but Le Toiny’s Beach Club makes it that much easier to tear yourself away from time to time. A short shuttle will scoot you across to this paradisiacal spot, where wooden chairs are clustered on the sand, sunbeds are shaded by palapas and hammocks are strung up between sea grapes; perfect for an afternoon snooze. Tuck into light lunches, sip chilled rose wine or have the bartender knock you up a tropical cocktail – this is the Caribbean, after all. Later on, you might like to pull up a chair at the smart Le Toiny Restaurant, nestled next to the swimming pool and serving delicacies like lemon mahi-mahi and lobster ravioli.
What’s more, Hotel Le Toiny also has a boutique filled with designer swimwear, jewellery and clothing, as well as a small gym looking out to sea and a spa too. Aptly named ‘Serenity’, this beachside wellness haunt is open to the ocean breeze and lulls you into a state of zen with its treatments like the hot shell massage, calendula flower massage and coconut rub with milk ritual wrap. Yoga or Pilates can also be arranged, and of course with the sea right on your doorstep, so too can watersports like sailing, water-skiing, snorkelling and stand-up paddle boarding, to name a few. There are then tennis courts nearby, plenty of hiking opportunities through the 42-acre estate and beyond, plus guided tours of St Barth, art gallery visits and much more. Though if you just wanted to stay put at Le Toiny and savour this slice of heaven, we certainly wouldn’t blame you.
