A Perfect Stay in Grenada

Upon my arrival into Grenada I was met at the airport by a representative from Silversands and escorted through very quickly to a lovely private Tesla car. A scenic ten-minute journey later, and I had arrived at Silversands, which is located on the beautiful two-mile Grand Anse beach.

After a very warm welcome I was shown to my three-bedroom villa which was beautiful, with its own private swimming pool and a fully equipped kitchen.

I really enjoyed the spa here, which was the epitome of serene; unhurried with a broad menu of treatments to choose from. At Silversands, I ate at Asiatique, which combines Asian cooking methods with Grenadian spices. Mark the chef, who is English and has lived in Grenada for 16 years, also arranged a wonderful tapas meal at the Grenadian Grill, featuring plenty of freshly caught fish and lobster – I felt very spoilt!

Grenada is known as the ‘Spice Island’, and exports lots of nutmeg, cloves, ginger and allspice among others. I was lucky enough to venture out on a half-day tour of the island, and saw monkeys, waterfalls and lakes. I was also able to tour a nutmeg factory and ended the tour visiting a chocolate factory, which was a lovely way to finish the day!

Next, I headed to Calabash Luxury Boutique Hotel for a couple of nights. Staying here is always like going home; the Garbutt Family who own and manage the hotel are delightful and always give a warm welcome.

I ate at the beach club and Rhodes restaurant and the food was amazing and completely unforgettable. I also took to the water for a sailing expedition one afternoon – it was lovely to see the island from the sea for a different perspective on paradise. Other activities to get involved in here also include diving, tennis, golf and quite a new addition – the beautiful spa.

Sadly, I did have to leave and head back home after a marvellous trip. Grenada Airport is much improved – I used the Jet Centre on departure and I would recommend it to all our clients for a seamless trip where all passengers can enjoy the creature comforts normally reserved for private jet passengers. Travel in real style!
